Anonymous drink/drug drive reporting tool trial begins

This week sees the launch of a trial for a new reporting tool. The tool enables you to tell us anonymously if you know someone who regularly drives under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The form, which can be found here, allows people to give us the details we need to investigate, without identifying themselves.

We are frequently asked how people can report drink or drug drivers and understand that calling us and leaving your details may be intimidating or you may fear the driver finding out who reported them. This online form feeds directly into our control room, where it will be allocated to an officer to action. We will not know who has submitted it.

You will see posters in licensed venues across Norfolk advertising the form and how you can access it. The trial will run throughout August and could become permanent if successful.

Insp Will Drummond said: “We know there are people who have concerns but are anxious about reporting it to us, as they may be close to the offender. It could be a family member or a friend.

“This tool means that people can help us to remove dangerous drivers from Norfolk’s roads without the worry of any potential backlash.”

If it's an emergency, if you think someone may be in danger or a situation could get worse, putting people at harm, please call 999
